An apartment complex rather than a conventional hotel, El Palauet is aimed at travellers who want to feel they are residents in Barcelona rather than visitors. Right in the heart of Barcelona’s upmarket Gràcia quarter is El Palauet Living, a fascinating fusion of art deco and contemporary design. Constructed from a private luxury house, El Palauet Living is a signature of old time, consisting of six two-bedroom apartments available for rent by the night. The neoclassicism building was designed by Gaudi’s contemporary Pere Falqués, who also designed the distinctive bench-cum-lamp posts on the paseo itself.
Stunning is a much overused word, but at El Palauet Living it is justified. The designers believed that the real luxury came from elegance. The room is decorated with amazing art pieces and antique stained glass. Each suite is a substantial 1,600sq ft and includes a well-equipped kitchen, furniture by the likes of Mies van der Rohe and Philippe Starck, carved.
